NFC South matchup on TNF and the 3-4 Panthers welcome the 1-6 Falcons who seemingly try and find new ways to lose games every week.
All Atlanta and in particular Todd Gurley had to do was not score, If they don’t run in for a TD they can eat up the rest of the clock and win only their second game of the year but oh no, not the Falcons! Instead Todd Gurley forgets that he’s not supposed to score until the last second where he tries to drop before reaching the end zone but his momentum takes him in for the score and of course the Lions with one more shot to win the game take their chance and get the dub. This Falcons pass defense isn’t stopping anyone and ranks as the 31st in the league giving up an average of over 333 yards per game through the air and against a Carolina team with multiple receiving weapons it’s difficult to see that tide turning in this one. The offense is the only positive on this Falcons football team and since Julio has come back from his hamstring injury they’ve looked a better and more complete unit but this Carolina defense matches up perfect with what the Falcons like to do which is to throw the ball down the field and there’s arguably not a better pass defense at stopping deep passing plays so the Falcons will have to do it with short to intermediate passing game and running the ball, luckily for them the Panthers have been susceptible to conceding scores to Running Backs and Gurley was successful against the Panthers in the first meeting between these two sides this season with over 120 rushing yards and a TD, it’s the only game in which Gurley has broken 100 yards this year and whilst I’m not sure if he’ll break 100 again in this one I do expect him to post a score in yet another losing Falcons effort.
