Who would’ve thought that in week 9 these two sides would have a combined record of 2-13?! Sure we knew the Jets were going to be bad but 0-8 bad?! And we also knew this would be a transition year for the Patriots but I don’t think anyone expected them to be entering week 9 with only 2 wins to their name.

The Patriots were unlucky losers last week on a close game with the Buffalo Bills and more than likely would’ve left Western New York with the win if Cam Newton would’ve been able to hold on to the ball when Justin Zimmer came and punched it loose. The Patriots ran the ball well in that game and have run the ball well all year and seems to be the only way they can get their Offense going but will be up against a Jets run stuffing unit which is the only positive on either side of the ball for Jets.

The Jets need to find something, anything on Offense as it’s been horrible all year and they have the perfect opportunity here to establish a run game with this New England run defense being truly found out by the Niners and Bills in back to back weeks and the ground game also seems the best way to go when you see the improvements in the Patriots pass defense in recent weeks, JC Jackson and Stephon Gilmore are one of the best corner tandem’s in football and Bill Belichick demands excellence from his corners so with Sam Darnold’s misfortunes this season I’d expect to see the Jets run the ball.

Ultimately we’ve got the Patriots strength on Offense going against the Jets strength on Defense whilst we’re not sure if the Jets can take advantage of the Patriots weakness against the run or if they’ll even try (Adam Gase is a strange man after all) but there is absolutely no way I’m picking the Jets here, they’re winless for a reason and although the Patriots aren’t good do I really believe Adam Gase is going to be the man responsible for handing Bill Belichick his 5th straight loss?

Although I have very little faith in Adam Gase I do expect him to do the smart thing and use the run game more than maybe he has so far this season and with Frank Gore questionable I expect rookie La’Mical Perine to get the bulk of the work and with 19 carries across his last two games I like him to have 9 or more in this one.

BEST BET: La’Mical Perine over 8.5 carries – Evens with William Hill. 1 point bet.
