GREEN BAY PACKERS @ NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

This might be a home game on paper for New Orleans but, due to Hurricane Ida, the game will be in Jacksonville instead, so effectively, we have a neutral site game to kick off Week 1 for the Packers and Saints.

Jameis Winston is the Week 1 starting QB for New Orleans after beating out Taysom Hill, for the job after Drew Brees’ retirement. Winston will be without Michael Thomas as he has undergone surgery, Marquez Callaway has seemingly stood up in his stead during the preseason but, it’s yet to be seen if that translates into meaningful NFL plays. Alvin Kamara should be involved plenty, but it’s always difficult to project when a new QB is under Center so, I want to see the usage on the offense before I lay my money down.

Green Bay almost lost their on veteran QB as reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers demanded a trade just before the 2021 NFL Draft. Luckily for the Packers, they managed to convince him to stay, at least for one more year. He and stud WR Davante Adams could be playing their last season in Green Bay, and I expect them to keep their strong connection going this season too, especially against a Saints secondary that has real question marks over their CB2 spot and overall depth at the corner position. Aaron Rodgers had 10 games last season with over 280 passing yards, including last years matchup with the Saints, add this to the questions New Orleans have in their secondary and I like Rodgers to hit the over in his 280.5 passing yards line.

Spread: Packers -3.5

Total Match Points line: O/U 49.5

Game Prediction: Packers 34 – 24 Saints

Best Bet: Aaron Rodgers over 280.5 passing yards @ 5/6 with SkyBet. [0.5]
