Two playoff teams from 2020 meet in Week 1 as Russell Wilson brings his Seattle side to Indy to take on Carson Wentz and the Colts.
Seattle had some mid-level drama this offseason when it appeared the face of the franchise Russell Wilson was trying to navigate his way out of the Pacific Northwest via trade. This has since been put to bed and it seems Russ is happy to stay now but things might change as it’s expected that Seattle will go back to their run-first offense in 2021 after trying a “Let Russ cook” approach for a lot of 2020. Running Back Chris Carson could and should be the beneficiary of a more run-centric offense but it’s his receiving yards line that’s caught my eye. Carson’s O/U 15.5 receiving yards is a number he bested in 8 of 12 games last year as well as in his only career performance against the Colts.
Indy replaced the retired Philip Rivers with former Eagles passer Carson Wentz. The former number two overall pick had a torrid last year in Philly, eventually being benched for rookie Jalen Hurts. Frank Reich will be hoping he can get Wentz back to his best, but without knowing which iteration of Carson Wentz we’re going to get and without expected leading WR T.Y Hilton it’s difficult to pick out a line for this Colts team. I want to see how this offense looks before putting my money down.
