Game of the week, in my opinion, as two 4-1 AFC playoff hunting teams square off in Baltimore. Will Justin Herbert lead his Chargers to a huge win on the road or, will the Lamar Jackson show keep on rolling? Two MVP candidates and a game that will have playoff seeding implications. It should be a cracker!
The Chargers won a 47-42 score fest against the Cleveland Browns last week, and their offense is firing. Justin Herbert is averaging over 300 passing yards per game and has 13 TD passes with only 3 interceptions. He’ll be salivating at the prospect of facing a Ravens defense that ranks 28th overall in passing yards per game allowed and is fresh off allowing Carson Wentz to throw for over 400 yards on MNF.
Lamar Jackson went OFF against the Indianapolis Colts on MNF as he threw for over 440 yards and accounted for over 500 total yards in the Ravens OT comeback win. Jackson has thrown for over 235 yards in every game the Ravens have played this year as the injuries to J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards forced the Ravens to re-think their run-first gameplan, although that gameplan might not be such a bad one in this matchup as the Chargers rank dead last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. Lamar has three games this season with 12+ rushing attempts, and against this soft Chargers front, I would expect him to reach double-digits once again.
