The 5-2 Raiders leave Vegas and their off-field troubles behind on Sunday as they travel to New Jersey to take on the 2-6 Giants. Can Derek Carr lead his team to a much-needed win, or will the Giants get an upset victory in Week 9?
The Giants lost a close MNF matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8, and whilst they played the back-to-back AFC champions close, they ultimately fell to their third loss in their last four games. The Giants will, once again, be without Saquon Barkley and Sterling Shepard, whilst Kenny Golladay is listed as questionable. These injuries have hampered the Giants offense all season, and whilst Daniel Jones has played reasonably well with not much of a supporting cast, it’s hard to know what we’re going to get from one week to the next with the Giants.
The less said about the Raiders recent off-field troubles, the better. So we’ll start with Derek Carr and his impressive season to date. Carr has exactly 2 TD passes in six of seven games so far this season and the veteran passer has also thrown for over 300 passing yards in five of those seven games. These numbers bode well for Carr and the Raiders as they’ll be up against a Giants defense that rank in the bottom half of the NFL for both points and passing yards allowed per game.
