How ‘Bout Them Cowboys
WINNERS – DALLAS COWBOYS:
How ‘bout them Cowboys! What an offense these boys have on paper, Dak Prescott is one of the most underrated QB’s In the league and the weapons surrounding him are ridiculous, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup and this year’s first round draft pick, CeeDee (soon to be known as TD) Lamb, this is in my opinion the best WR trio in football and a QB’s dream, the fact that Zeke Elliot is the Running Back and the Offensive Line is one of the best in the league is the cherry on the top of a very big cake and must have ‘Boys fans dreaming of a deep playoff run. On defense this unit struggles at times last year but have addressed that through FA and the draft and they’ll be hoping talented but raw Cornerback, Trevon Diggs can seamlessly fill the void left by departed starter, Byron Jones. Mike McCarthy is back in the League after taking a year out after leaving the Packers and he has made the smart decision to leave offensive play calling duties in the hands of Kellen Moore (Who I think the organization are grooming to eventually become HC) this is a Head Coach who knows how to win and a roster (especially on offense) which is ready to win now, I’m expecting big things from the Cowboys this year and that’s starts with winning back the division in impressive fashion.
BEST CASE: 14-2
WORST CASE: 9-7
2nd PLACE – NEW YORK GIANTS:
I can hear it now, “EXCUSE ME! The Giants ahead of the Eagles?! You don’t know what you’re talking about!” and whilst that might be true at least hear me out. The Giants are off to a fresh start with a rookie HC in Joe Judge but this is a man who has worked under Bill Belichick and Nick Saban both of whom give him their seal of approval and when arguably the greatest coach in NFL history and the greatest coach in College Football history give you the thumbs up you must be doing something right. On offense It’s still all about Saquon Barkley and rightly so but the presence of Daniel Jones will at least help to keep defences’ honest as will pass catchers, Evan Engram and Darius Slayton if they can keep healthy. My worry and where this prediction could fall flat on its face is the defense and especially the secondary, I almost backtracked on this prediction when news broke that rookie, Xavier McKinney got hurt and will miss the majority if not all of the season but I decided to stay true. Andrew Thomas was probably the smart pick at 4th overall if not the sexiest but the man I rated out as the #1 Run blocking offensive lineman in football makes sense for a team looking to spring Saquon Barkley into the second level of the defense as often as possible. Ultimately having the Giants here is more of an indictment of this division outside of the Cowboys than thinking they’re going to be a good football team.
BEST CASE: 8-8
WORST CASE: 5-11
3RD PLACE – PHILADELPHIA EAGLES:
Man, I’d be booed so hard if I were in Philly right now but I’m not seeing what everyone else seems to be, an injury prone QB, no Wide Receivers who can actually stay on the field and a secondary who were shredded for most of last season and sure Darius Slay will help that but he’s not going to do it all himself and with what seems to be like most positional areas on this roster they’re one injury away from total ruin and in this year above all others that’s a real tightrope they’re walking. Lets talk about their positives, the offensive line is one of the better units in the league but ageing and same goes for a D-Line who propelled them to their fist Lombardi Trophy just a few years ago, at Tight End they have real weapons in Zach Ertz & Dallas Goedert but without any Receivers they can trust to stay healthy, that might be all they have in the pass catcher department. At Running Back I’m a fan of what they’ve got in Miles Sanders, but this will be his first year as the lead back and he’s already been banged up a bit in camp… That old injury bug has torn through Philly in recent years and It’ll have to stay away if they’re going to make noise in the division this year.
BEST CASE: 9-7
WORST CASE: 5-11
4th PLACE – WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM:
The newly branded Washington Football Team can expect at least something a little familiar this season and that’s propping up the NFC East but I this this is a team which at least on the field I think have the arrow pointing in the right direction. New HC, Ron Rivera is a smart choice to take the reigns and try to steady a sinking ship and their Defensive Line, surprisingly, might be the best in that league but outside of that and 2nd year Receiver, Terry McLaurin, it’s a pretty sorry state and the less said on disgraced former RB, Derrius Guice, the better. I’m not sold on QB, Dwayne Haskins and wouldn’t be surprised if his first season as a starter is his last and with an early Draft Pick, Ron Rivera goes and gets HIS guy to run the offense.
BEST CASE: 5-11
WORST CASE: 2-14
