I’m sure the Niners hate the fact they have to play on this surface again after the slew of injuries they picked up last week against the Jets. The Niners will be without Jimmy Garoppolo, Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa, Dee Ford and Solomon Thomas… that’s their starting QB, RB1 & RB2, TE1 (also their biggest weapon in the passing game), their WR1 both EDGE rushers and a starting defensive lineman, this really is down to the barebones for the Niners this week and makes it very difficult to project what we’re going to get from the Niners this week. I said on the Dial Up The Blitz podcast this week that I wouldn’t be surprised if Kyle Shanahan brought a guy like JaMycal Hasty up from the Practice Squad and he runs for 100 yards and a couple TD’s, he’s been moved to the active roster so we’ll see if the second part of that prediction comes true! I must be honest and apart from Jerick McKinnon seeing the bulk of the snaps at Running Back I don’t know what to expect from a severely depleted Niner team.
I can’t imagine the Giants will have much sympathy for the Niners as they lost their best player and one of the leaguesbest Saquon Barkley for the season in their game with the Bears. The fact of the matter with the Giants on offense though is that their O-Line really suck and even against a beat up Niner D-Line they might be overmatched and Daniel Jones just isn’t very good, he turns the ball over too often and his inability to hit a wide open Golden Tate to win the game (and our bet!) last week really caused me to lose confidence in his ability to ever become a top tier NFL passer. The Giants defense is an improving unit, Blake Martinez and Logan Ryan coming in are positives and if they put it all together, they could cause a beat up Niner offense issues.
If both teams were completely healthy I think the Niners win this easily but their not and their injury list is long and filled with basically every game winner they have! Luckily for the Niners this isn’t the strongest opposition but even still I think the circumstances make this game a close call. I’m going to take the Giants but I don’t like it and still expect the Niner run game to have some success.
