Week 3 has saved its best until last and MNF gets a humdinger of a game as the Patrick Mahomes led World Champion Kansas City Chiefs head into Baltimore to on a Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
The home side Ravens have torn through both opponents on the way to a 2-0 start this year and in doing so have shown that they’re just as capable scoring points through the air as they are on the ground with Lamar Jackson already in mid-season form the Ravens are already looking like the leagues top offense and they’re not too shabby on defense either, posting 5 Sacks and 2 INT’s in the first two weeks and keeping both opponents under 20 points.
The Chiefs got away with one last week, after having trouble deciphering the Chargers Seattle Scheme based defense the Chiefs mounted a late charge to take the game into Overtime where a Charger punt on 4th & 1 gave the ball back to Mahomes and he marched them up the field for Harrison Butker to finally put the ball through the uprights for the W. We know this is a potent Chief offense but it worries me that teams will use a similar script to the Chargers to try and slow them down and if the Ravens can do that they should have no problem moving the ball on the Chiefs who allowed rookie debutant Justin Herbert to throw all over them for over 300 yards as well as giving up nearly 100 yards on the ground to Austin Ekeler. This Raven run attack is arguably the leagues best so a Chiefs run D which has given up over 300 yards combined on the ground through their first two contests will need to tighten up. Interestingly enough the Chiefs have given up a rushing TD to both QB’s they’ve faced this season and we all know how talented a runner Lamar Jackson is..
This is the third instalment of Mahomes v Jackson so far in their young careers and so far Mahomes is 2-0 against last years MVP but this is the first time to two have played in Jackson’s house instead of at Arrowhead and I like it to be third time lucky for Lamar and the Ravens as they head to 3-0 and become the odds on favourites to lift the Super Bowl.
PREDICTION: RAVENS 28 – 26 CHIEFS
BEST BET: Lamar Jackson Anytime TD – 5/4 with SkyBet – 2 point bet.
