Battle of two 0-3 teams who a lot of people had playoff hopes for this season.
Let’s start with the Texans who must’ve done something to piss off the scheduling God’s (or maybe it’s punishment for employing Bill O’Brien.. as if that isn’t punishment enough) as they kicked off the season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, who’re a combined 8-1 with the Ravens only losing to the Chiefs, so 0-3 may have been expected in some corners of the Texans franchise and I’m sure they’ll see their opportunity to finally get their season underway at home to the Vikings. DeShaun Watson has had a slow start with week 3 being his only multiple passing TD game and has thrown a Interception in all 3 contests. It’s evident he’s missing DeAndre Hopkins, who has been Kyler Murray’s best friend in Arizona and that the committee the Texans have put around him to replace Nuk isn’t the same as having a top 5 pass catcher on the outside… funny that. On defense they’ve been poor and lack playmakers in the secondary, evidenced by their lack of picks on the season, through 3 games the Texans are yet to intercept a pass and it only gets worse when we talk about their run stopping ability which is nonexistent and are the the worst run stopping defense in football through 3 weeks and now they get to face Dalvin Cook… good luck with that.
The Vikings finally found some offensive production in week 3 behind the running of Dalvin Cook who had over 180 yards and a TD whilst rookie WR Justin Jefferson wasn’t far behind with 175 yards and a score of his own but Kirk Cousins is still too reckless with the football, turning it over twice against the Titans in a narrow loss to take his season total to 6 INT’s in just 3 games, you’re always going to struggle when you’re turning the ball over that often. On defense and they’re still a unit ravaged by injury and I really think this game comes down to the availability of Corner Mike Hughes, if he is able to go the Minnesota’s chances improve greatly.
I see this as a bit of a trap game to be honest, everyone expects the Texans to get the win after being manhandled by the Chiefs and Ravens and then narrowly losing to the Steelers in their murderers row of games so far and that the Vikings will provide some easier competition but I’m not so sure. The Vikings run the ball well and in Dalvin Cook have one of the leagues top ball carriers and as we’ve already stated, the Texans cannot stop the run. The Vikings are 4-0 against the Texans all time and I’m backing them to get the upset here.
