Who needs practice huh? It would appear not the Tennessee Titans who after not being allowed in their building for two weeks preceded to whoop the previously unbeaten Buffalo Bills on Tuesday night keeping the what was red-hot Bills offense to under 20 points and picking off Josh Allen twice, the Titans now have six INT’s on the year which ties for 3rd best in the NFL through and the Titans are a game behind mist and even the previously porous run D stepped up vs Buffalo although part of that may have been the Bills ineptitude when running which is a trait the Texans share so the Titans might be able to post back to back impressive outings against the Run. On Offense it was obviously a great outing as they posted over 40 points but when you break it down you see how the takeaway ability of the Defense and Buffalo’s mistakes lead to great starting field position and the Titans capitalised, Ryan Tannehill had 3 TD’s but passed for less than 200 yards whilst Derrick Henry ran in for 2 scores but only gained a season low 57 yards on the ground and TE Jonnu Smith caught 5 passes and 2 of them were TD’s, stat lines like that aren’t going to happen every week. on Offense I was most impressed with the returning AJ Brown who got himself a TD and over 80 yards and the Bills just couldn’t cover him and I’m excited to see him against a Texans side he gave fits last season, going for over 100 yards and a TD in each game against the divisional rivals.
The Texans got their first win of the season last week in another divisional matchup against the Jaguars and Deshaun Watson threw for nearly 360 yards and 3 TD’s but did throw 2 INT’s which took his total to 5 on the years and against this playmaking secondary I wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn the ball over again in this one. Houston’s strength on Defense is getting after the passer but JJ Watt and company will be tasked with beating an Offensive Line which has only allowed 4 Sacks on the season so that strength vs strength matchup will be one to watch and if that is a battle the Texans pass rush can’t win I worry about how they’ll stop the Titans as they’re yet to intercept a QB this season and Ryan Tannehill has only thrown 1 INT against 10 TD passes through 4 games.
I can’t see past the Titans here, I think they’re too good for the Texans right now and even on a shirt week I expect them to have too much for their divisional rivals.
