Oh hi Baker Mayfield, nice of you to show up eventually! Baker had easily his best game of the season throwing agonisingly close to 300 yards and 5 TD’s including the game winner with 11 seconds left in the game. Clutch. The loss of OBJ early against the Bengals seemed to help as opposed to hindering Baker which only added fuel to the flames of the people who think both parties would benefit from OBJ moving on and this seems to be the pressure on Baker to force OBJ the ball when he’s on the field and their seeming inability to get on the same wavelength so whilst his loss on paper seems a big one it may actually benefit the Offense which is quite the opposite to the extended loss of Nick Chubb who is still out injured and the run game has suffered significantly as a result, so much so that what was the leagues best rushing attack has now gone back to back games with under 100 yards on the ground, all the more reason Baker Mayfield’s performance last week was so important to this Browns side who have playoff aspirations but those aspirations may eventually be curtailed by a Pass Defense which currently ranks bottom 3 in the NFL, they allowed Joe Burrow to throw for over 400 yards on them last week and are averaging over 288 yards allowed through the air per game and that would be even worse were it not for the one man wrecking ball Myles Garrett who leads the NFL in Sacks with 9 and Forced Fumbles with 4 and looks on his way to a Defensive Player of the Year award not even 12 months after being banned for whacking Mason Rudolph with his own helmet. (I don’t care what anyone says, it was hilarious)
The 3-3 Raiders are looking to get back above .500 after being given the bizness by Tom Brady and the Bucs last week which could only be put down to their Defense not being able to stop Tom Brady slinging it all over the yard giving up 369 yards and 4 TD’s to the man many consider the GOAT. Arguably the Raiders biggest disappointment this year has been Josh Jacobs who hasn’t been able to take that Sophomore step up after an impressive rookie year and that had taken Derek Carr’s ability to lean on the run game away which in turn has him throwing the ball more often and further down the field.
I’m going to take the Browns to get the win here, I think they’re the more talented team and have the home advantage but my best bet of the day is Derek Carr to throw for over 244.5 yards, It’s a number he’s only missed once this season and that was in week 1 add that to Carr’s historical performances against the Browns, in 3 career games he has averaged 360 yards through the air and hasn’t had a game with less than 310 passing yards against them.
PREDICTION: BROWNS 27 – 24 RAIDERS
BEST BET: Derek Carr over 244.5 passing yards – EVENS with Betfair. 2 point bet.
