Two sides coming off Week 10 games played in horrible conditions but varying results as the Texans fell to the run heavy Browns whilst the Patriots stymied a previously dangerous Ravens running game and ran the ball exceptionally well themselves on their way to an upset win.
Houston struggled to get anything going on Offense during their loss to the Browns and that’s because with the weather conditions making running the ball the smart play the Texans were unable, as they have been all season, to do so mustering only 90 rushing yards ( In comparison the Browns managed to run the ball for over 230 yards and a TD) and this lack of run game has been a burden all season.
The Patriots gave Baltimore a taste of their own medicine on SNF running the ball more effectively and efficiently than a Ravens side who’ve ran the ball better than anyone else all year. Bill Belichick was pulling his Guards and making space a plenty for Damien Harris to run the ball and run the ball he did for over 120 yards and in a game with some of the heaviest rain I’ve ever seen it was always going to take a performance on the ground like that to get a win. Most impressively was the Patriots ability on Defense to hold the Ravens feared run game in check something which they’ve previously shown an inability to do and with a pass defense improving every week and possessing the ability to take the ball away this Defense might be strong enough to sneak the Patriots back into playoff contention.
Although Cam Newton and the Patriot pass Offense have struggled to get anything going for most of the season they have been able to run the ball and against a porous Texans run defense which is the worst in the NFL I expect the Patriots to once again lean on their run game here and with Cam Newton’s Passing Attempts U/O set at 28.5, a number he’s only gone over twice this season and not once in New England, we’re going to take the Under on that line.
