NEW ORLEANS SAINTS @ ATLANTA FALCONS

The 9-2 Saints travel to Atlanta to take on the 4-7 (but 4-2 under Interim HC Raheem Morris) Falcons. The Saints are still without veteran passer Drew Bress and will instead again run with Taysom Hill. Hill and the Saints dominated the Falcons in Louisiana just a couple weeks ago and will be looking to take their divisional record to a perfect 5-0 with a win here.

The Saints were given a free win last week when the Denver Broncos QB went down and they were forced to run with a practice squad receiver at the QB position so it’s hard to take much from that game but the offense did again run the ball well with QB Taysom Hill again notching 10 rushing attempts which he has done in both starts since replacing the injured Brees. The Saints Defense kept Matt Ryan from throwing a TD just a couple weeks ago whilst managing to pick him off twice meaning that this Saints defense have only given up 1 TD pass in their last 4 games whilst posting 9 interceptions in the same time span which leads me to ask, Is there a defense in better form right now than the Saints?

Atlanta blew the doors off of the Raiders last week beating the playoff contenders by 43 points to 6 in an upset win and since Raheem Morris took over from Dan Quinn the Falcons have won 4 of 6 games with the former DC making a case for being given the job on a permanent basis. The only game the Morris led Falcons have been completely outplayed in was this reverse fixture just a couple weeks ago and he’ll be hoping Matt Ryan can find some form after a few below par performances in recent weeks. The Defense has faired a lot better since Morris took over too, in only one game under Dan Quinn this season did they give up less than 30 points whilst under Morris they’re yet to give up over 27.

This is an interesting game regardless of the respective records and the result just a few weeks ago. The Falcons are improving every single week and now their defense is far from the walkovers we witnessed through the first few weeks and although I’m very impressed with the Saints defense I worry that this run heavy offense with Taysom Hill at QB is a little one dimensional and will be found out once a side force Hill to beat them with his arm. Although I think this will be a lot closer than their first meeting and wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Falcons pulled off the upset win I’m going to take the Saints, they’ve won their last 8 games and their defense is balling.

As for my best bets there’s a couple of interesting markets, firstly we have Taysom Hill’s rushing attempts where the line is set at U/O 9.5 and with Hill having 10 rushing attempts in both of his starts so far there’s no reason to expect him to have less than double figures. The other market of interest is Ricardo Allen’s Tackle & Assists market which has the line set at O/U 3.5 which surprised me as he’s only managed one game with more than 2 T&A’s all season. A real value bet we also like is Taysom Hill to score a brace, something he’s done in both of his starts so far and is great value @ 13/2 with SkyBet.

PREDICTION: SAINTS 24 โ€“ 20 FALCONS

BEST BET: Ricardo Allen UNDER 3.5 Tackles & Assists โ€“ 5/4 with SkyBet. 0.5 point bet.

NEXT BEST: Taysom Hill OVER 9.5 Rushing Attempts โ€“ EVENS with SkyBet. 0.5 point bet.

ย GREAT VALUE: Taysom Hill to score a brace โ€“ 13/2 with SkyBet. 0.5 point bet.
