The Washington Football Team are the next to take a crack and remove the “0” from the unbeaten Steelers perfect 11-0 record and the 4-7 side might be able to give them a harder time than most think..

Washington made a statement on Thanksgiving by defeating their divisional rival Dallas Cowboys 41-16 in a dominant performance. Washington allowed rookie runner Antonio Gibson to become the forefront of the offense as he crushed Dallas for the second time this season this time with a hat-trick and 115 yards, Gibson has two 100+ rushing games in his rookie year and both have come against the Cowboys as well as 4 of his 11 TD’s. The defense which has been a fantastic unit all season gave the Cowboy offense fits, sacking Andy Dalton 3 times, intercepting 1 of his passes and recovering a forced fumble from Zeke Elliot but this has been par for the course this season for Washington’s defense who’re 2nd in the NFL in passing yards allowed and in Sacks with 36 but may have trouble adding to that as no Offensive Line have allowed less Sacks than the Steelers who have only seen Big Ben dropped for a loss 10 times this season.

Remember a couple of sentences ago when I told you Washington rank 2nd in the NFL in a couple of important pass defense metrics? Well let me introduce you to the guys at number 1.. Blitzburgh as they’re being dubbed have been dominant all season leading the league in Sacks with 41 and in QB hits with 104 so when you’re playing Pittsburgh you can expect to see your QB on his back and worryingly for Washington is their inability to keep their passers clean, only two teams in the NFL have given up more Sacks than Washington as they’ve seen their passer dropped for a loss on 35 occasions but some reprieve may be on its way as Steelers pass rusher Bud Dupree has torn his ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season, Dupree has been responsible for 8 of the Steelers 41 Sacks this season and will be a loss for their impressive defensive line. So the Steelers lead the league in Sacks, QB hits and Interceptions as well as allowing the least amount of passing yards against so with this information you’d assume that it would be easier to run on this defense than it is to pass on it and whilst you’d be right they’re still a top 10 run stuffing unit but with the aforementioned Gibson in good form it may be Washington’s best route to victory. The Steelers offense although not as good as their defense is still good enough to win games. The running game is nothing to write home about but the quick passing game has been their go to so far this season with Big Ben getting the ball out of his hands quickly and into the hands of one of his talented trio pass catchers who are all capable of big game winning performances and each of the three have had games where they’ve been the primary target which is great for the Steelers but not so good for opposing defense’s and us as bettors.

Although I think Washington can make life hard for the Steelers I can’t pick the team with the losing record to go on the road and beat the undefeated AFC leaders but we will go to Washington for our best bet and back to the same well we found a winner in last week as Antonio Gibson’s U/O Rushing attempts line is a meagre 12.5 a number he’s gone over in his last 3 games and in 4 of his last 5 games and whilst this is a top 10 Steelers run defense they’re the best in the league at stopping the pass and Washington QB Alex Smith’s stats in 2020? 5 games, 3 starts, 3 TD’s and 5 INT’s. Running the ball is Washington’s best chance of putting up points in this game and I expect them to hand Gibson the ball. There are multiple lines that interested me in this matchup but instead of listing them all individually I’ve requested SkyBet to throw them in an acca for us and they have obliged!
