Arguably the two biggest underachievers of the 2020 season meet at Jerry World. This game was supposed to be the SNF matchup but was flexed out to the midday schedule in place of the Browns @ Giants game. Can these two put on a show and prove they were deserving of a primetime game or will we see something closer to what we’ve seen from these two sides the majority of the season?
The Cowboys kept their faint Division and Playoff hopes alive with a dominant win over a beat up Bengals side last week but will more than likely need to win out if we’re going to see them in the post season. The offense hasn’t been good since Prescott went down injured earlier in the season with Zeke Elliot seemingly unable to perform without his QB under Center. The less said about the defense the better, although they kept the Bengals and their backup QB to only 7 points, they’ve been hideous all season.
The Niners are arguably the unluckiest franchise in the NFL this season, suffering big injury after big injury. The offense hasn’t been good under Nick Mullens as the backup QB has struggled to the point that even Shanahan’s genius in the run game isn’t enough to save them. The Defense has suffered a lot of important players to injury too but have fared much better under the play calling of Robert Saleh, the Defensive Coordinator will be high on a lot of teams list for a HC vacancy next season. His unit ranks in the top 5 for passing yards allowed whilst also ranking in the top 10 in rushing yards allowed.
It’s a shame that this game has been somewhat ruined by both teams suffering major injuries at important positions, both sides will be rolling out their backup QB’s! Even though I believe the Niners are the better team with the better coaching staff, something is telling me the Cowboys, who still have something to play for, can win this game but with Shanahan’s ability to dominate defense’s on the ground and the Cowboys having the NFL’s worst ranked run defense, I just can’t pick the ‘boys.
For my best bet I’m looking at Cowboys’ Linebacker Jaylon Smith who will be tasked with making the tackles to stop this Niner run game from ruining the game for the ‘Boys and with back to back games with double figure T&A’s and 7 of those games this season, I like him to go over his 8.5 total line in this one.
PREDICTION: NINERS 30 – 21 COWBOYS
BEST BET: Jaylon Smith OVER 8.5 Tackles & Assists – 11/10 with SkyBet. 0.5 point bet.
