MINNESOTA VIKINGS @ ARIZONA CARDINALS

After a disappointing overtime loss to the Bengals in Week 1, the Minnesota Vikings travel to Arizona to face a Cardinals team that in my opinion put up the performance of the week in thrashing the Tennessee Titans.

The Vikings struggled defensively last week allowing Joe Burrow to complete 20/27 passes, whilst also allowing Joe Mixon to rush for 127 yards and a touchdown. Even the impressive 5 sacks they managed can largely be put down to a poor Bengals O-Line that ranked 30th in the NFL last year, they won’t get the same luxury against the Cardinals this week. With a much better line and Murray’s scrambling abilities, I expect it to be a long day for this Vikings defense. Kyler Murray is one of the favourites for the MVP this year and certainly showed why on Sunday, with 5 total touchdowns. He has a very good receiving corp to work

with and I expect them to have another big day after the Vikings struggles last week.

The Cardinals managed 6 sacks last week with Chandler Jones getting 5 of them. Jones looked excellent last week and there is no reason why that can’t or won’t continue this week, with him trying to convince the Cardinals to pay up in negotiations regarding a new contract. Jones has completed over 3.5 tackles in 7 of his last 10 full games, so 3.5+ tackles and assists at 5/6 with SkyBet looks very fair in current form.

Arizona have come out of week one largely intact with OT Beachum, listed as questionable, the only real concern. The Vikings, however, are missing 4 players including 2021 first-round draft pick Christian Darrisaw, linebacker Anthony Barr and veteran Everson Griffen. All of whom are big losses for the Vikings. Minnesota’s lead tackler from Week 1, Erik Kendricks, is also marked as questionable for this matchup, and after posting 15 tackles last week he would be a huge loss to this defense.

Arizona goes into this game with all the momentum after blowing out the Titans, and I expect them to ensure the Vikings head into Week 3 with an 0-2 record.

Spread: Cardinals -4.5
