After their first two games of the season being decided by field goals, the Vikings finally got things rolling and got their first dub of the season with a very convincing performance against Seattle in their Week 3 matchup. That result makes this Week 4 game against the 2-1 Cleveland Browns all the more intriguing.
The Browns will look to capitalize on their immense defensive performance last week against the Chicago Bears. The Browns D only allowing 47 yards of total offense against the hapless Bears, who looked void of any sort of gameplan whatsoever.
The key to this game is for the Browns defense to keep their impressive Week 3 performance up and keep the Vikings offense in check. With a whopping 9 sacks last week, lead mainly by Myles Garrett, the Browns will be needing another strong performance from their defensive line to disrupt an in form Kirk Cousins and stop the returning Dalvin Cook.
Although the Vikings have been excellent in their pass pro this season, their run blocking has left something to be desired. They’ll need to be better moving forward if we’re going to see the best of the aforementioned Cook. Kirk Cousins is yet to throw a single interception through three games to start the year and has kept his Vikings team in every game, the Browns will want to unsettle the veteran passer with pressure in the hope he makes a mistake with the football.
Ultimately, I believe the Browns to be the better football team in this matchup and whilst the Browns will have to find a way of slowing down Cousins and his weapons, the same is also true of the Vikings defense and the Browns offense and I’m dubious, to say the least, that the Vikes have the talent on defense to stop Cleveland having their way with them.
For our best bet, we’re going with Vikings ever-present Adam Thielen. The veteran WR has 4TDs in 3 games in 2021, and if we go back to the end of the 2020 season he has 6TDS in his last 6 games. Thielen also has 6 or more receptions in every game this season, so we’ll take the over on his U/O 5.5 line against a below-average secondary.
Spread: Browns -1.0
Total Match Points line: U/O 52.0
Game Prediction: Browns 30-24 Vikings
Best Bet: Adam Thielen over 5.5 receptions and an anytime TD @ 11/5 with Bet365 Bet Builder. [0.5]
