Week 8 in the NFL wraps up in Kansas as the underperforming Chiefs host the 2-5 Giants on MNF. Can Kansas bounce back after an embarrassing loss to the Titans last week, or will Daniel Jones will his team to back-to-back wins for the first time in 2021?
The Giants picked up a needed upset win over the Carolina Panthers last week, in a game that Daniel Jones took over and seemingly became the entire Giants offense. The QB had eight rushing attempts and even a highlight-worthy one-handed catch down the sideline for a first down. Saquon Barkley’s injury has forced Jones to do more without his backfield comfort blanket, and that’s shown itself in his inflated passing numbers. Daniel Jones has at least 23 pass completions in the last four games he has started and finished, and in a game the Giants are expected to be playing from behind, I would be surprised if that streak didn’t extend tonight, especially against a porous Chiefs secondary.
Kansas City look like they may have turned the corner with their second-half performance against Washington, but that proved a false dawn as the Tennessee Titans routed the Chiefs 27-3. Patrick Mahomes doesn’t look like the former MVP we’ve been accustomed to watching, and he leads the NFL in interceptions, with 9 in his last 6 games. KC will be hoping Mahomes finds himself on primetime tonight. Darrel Williams has taken the role of the injured Clyde Edwards-Helaire, and his usage in the passing game has been noticeable with 3 receptions in each of his last three games.
