The battle of Ohio takes place in Cincinnatti as two AFC North foes face off. Will the OBJ-less Browns pick up a win on the road, or will Cincy get back to winning ways after their shock defeat last week?
The Bengals entered last week atop the AFC, but after a shock loss at the hands of the New York Jets, they’re now the 5th seed. A previously stout Bengal defense gave up over 400 passing yards and 34 points to what was a one-win Jets team rolling out a backup QB. On offense all the talk is, of course, about the connection between Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, but let’s not overlook another 2021 standout in C.J. Uzomah. The big Tight End has impressed so far this season by making big plays and scoring big touchdowns for his team, and his consistency within the offense has been noteworthy too, with three or more receptions in four of his last five games, including each of his last three, and two 90+ receiving yard & multiple TD games in that same period.
Cleveland parted ways with a disgruntled Odell Beckham Jr on Friday after the receivers father posted a video on social media slamming Browns QB Baker Mayfield. The underused OBJ sized hole isn’t a particularly big one to fill for the run-first Browns, but it does put more pressure on Jarvis Landry to make plays when Mayfield finds him with the football. On defense, and it’s still the Myles Garrett show. The freakishly athletic defensive end leads the NFL in sacks with 10.5 and has been just as active in the tackles & assists department, with three or more in seven of eight games this season.
