The 4-3 Chargers head to the city of brotherly love to take on the 3-5 Eagles. Can Justin Herbert and the Chargers bounce back after back to back losses, or will Jalen Hurts and his Eagles side get their fourth win of the season?
Philadelphia beat the snot out of the Detroit Lions last week, defeating the winless Lions 44-6. Jalen Hurts only threw the ball nine times in the win, as Philadelphia attacked Detroit on the ground with 2 TDs apiece for Boston Scott and Jordan Howard. Both backs should be looking forward to facing a Chargers defense that ranks dead last in the NFL in rushing yards against per game. Boston Scott has 3 TDs in his last two games and will be looking to get himself in the end zone once again against a Chargers defense that has already allowed 10 TDs to opposing RBs this season.
The Chargers find themselves on a two-game skid after losing efforts against the Ravens and Patriots and will be keen to get back on track against a sub .500 team. Justin Herbert struggled mightily against a well-coached Patriots defense last week, completing just over 50% of his passes and throwing two interceptions, including a pick-6. The Eagles pass defense should prove another challenging unit for Herbert to negotiate, but he’ll be helped by veteran pass-catcher Keenan Allen, who has had a strong season so far with six or more receptions in five of seven games this year.
Philadelphia’s ability to run the ball and the Chargers inability to stop it could lead to an upset here but, I’m more comfortable taking the better QB, HC and team here, so give me the Chargers to get themselves back on track in Philly.
