INDIANAPOLIS COLTS @ JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS.

We don’t have to spend long on this one! The Jags have pretty much asset stripped themselves, trading away Calais Campbell for peanuts and releasing feature RB Leonard Fournette. Gardner Minshew is under centre this season and does have a legit weapon in DJ Chark at WR but outside of that there isn’t much now Fournette is gone, they’ll be hoping rookies, Laviska Shenault Jr and James Robinson can help out but it really is an underpowered unit this year. Defense is a bit better although not to the level it was a few short years ago, Joe Schobert comes in on a big contract from the Browns to take over at Middle Linebacker and allow Myles Jack to move outside to his preferred Weakside spot which was needed as the Jags really struggled against the run last year. The Jags spent both 2020 1st round picks on defense adding my CB #1 CJ Henderson with a top 10 pick and then taking another one of my guys 20th overall with the selection of DE / OLB K’Lavon Chaisson from LSU to replace Yannick Ngakoue who had one foot out of the door by time the draft rolled around, Chaisson and 2nd year Pass Rusher, Josh Allen could form a formidable QB hunting duo for years to come.

The Colts are in the opposite position to the Jags, they went and added veteran signal caller Philip Rivers in FA and made a trade to bring in DT DeForest Buckner in what are very much ‘win now’ moves. The addition in the draft of WR Michael Pittman Jr is hoped to help improve an offense which ranked bottom 3 in pass offense last year but fellow 2nd round draft pick Jonathan Taylor projects to improve a rushing attack which was already top 10 in the league which is no surprise when you take into consideration just how good this Colts O-Line is, running behind it mush be a RB’s dream and I’m looking forward to seeing how the promising Taylor transitions to the league. Rivers loves using his RB’s in the passing game and that is not a particular strength of Taylor’s but incumbent Backs, Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines are both able to catch out the backfield and I expect Mack to take on this role initially.

Philip Rivers is 7-2 in games vs the Jags in his career and has only once gone under the 233.5 number set in this game. I’m also taking the Colts at -7.5 @ Evens with SkyBet.

PREDICTION: COLTS 34 – 13 JAGUARS

BEST BET: Philip Rivers over 233.5 Passing Yards @ 5/6
