How the Bears are 2-0 and the Falcons 0-2 is beyond me, but I expect that to change this week. The Falcons have been competitive against two of the better teams in the league and should’ve beaten the Cowboys in Dallas last week (the less said about THAT onside kick the better) whilst the Bears have beaten the sorry Lions & Giants both of who are 0-2.
Lets start with the home side Falcons who in moving the ball through the air are arguably the best in the league, Matt Ryan has over 720 yards in two games and has thrown 6 TD’s but unfortunately for him his side have a defense who cannot stop anyone through the air! The only member of that defense who can cover anyone is rookie AJ Terrell and he’s in a horrible position of being a rookie and tasked with stopping the oppositions #1 WR every week. There’s a very real prospect of stud WR, Julio Jones and EDGE, Dante Fowler Jr both missing this game both of whom will be huge losses for the Falcons.
The Bears travel to Atlanta in week 3 and they are yet to face an opponent who have won a game! Mitch Trubisky briefly looked like Aaron Rodgers in a 4th quarter comeback over the Lions in week 1 but looked every inch Mitch Trubisky against the Giants, throwing for under 200 yards, 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s but this Atlanta defense is just as bad if not worse than the Giants D so this isn’t a challenging game for Trubisky and with a full compliment of pass catchers I expect this to be one of his better games against an opponent not named the Detroit Lions. On defense the Bears again should be untroubled by Injuries and are yet to give up a big score or performance to a QB this season but the Falcons are a different proposition to Daniel Jones and the Giants and this will be a real test for the Bears, if they can keep Matt Ryan and this offense quiet I’ll be forced to admit I was wrong about the Bears, even without Julio Jones they’re a scary offense so colour me impressed if they manage it but I’m going to need to see it before I believe It.
I don’t know if the Falcons can stop anyone through the air but I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt considering they’ve faced two high octane offenses through the first two weeks but their pass D is so bad that I can’t see them being able to stop Allen Robinson getting into pay dirt but I struggle to see how the Bears can keep up with the points I expect the Falcons being able to post here at home. Give me the home side and the Falcons to finally get a W.
