Somebodies 0 must go! The 2-0 Rams travel to Western New York to take on the 2-0 Bills and their red-hot offense.
The travelling Rams have picked up back to back wins over NFC East opponents and now try their hand at beating the AFC East leaders. Against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday they were in control of the game but didn’t really pull away until the 4th quarter and this is a very poor Eagles side so that could be a worry as has been their ability to stop the run through 2 weeks, allowing both Zeke Elliot and Miles Sanders to go for 96 and 95 yards respectively and a score toting the rock and whilst Bills runner Devin Singletary isn’t at the level of a Zeke Elliot or a Miles Sanders he should have opportunities to do some damage on the ground. The Pass D is bossed by Jalen Ramsey and although I’m convinced he was beaten deep by Michael Gallup in the Cowboys game on a play which if not for a penalty call would’ve put the Cowboys in a great position to win the game, he is still one of the leagues premier shut down corners and his matchup with Stefon Diggs today will be a great watch. On offense Sean McVay has them rolling and it all starts with the run game which has to be established for the pass game to open up but the Rams have seen some bland defenses and overmatched defensive play callers through two games this year and I doubt they’ll be given that luxury against Sean McDermott and this Bills D especially if Linebacker’s Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds play as expected after missing the win in Miami last week.
Now to the home side Bills and how about Josh Allen! He tore apart the Dolphins in week 2 posting over 400 yards and 4 TD’s in an almost flawless Quarterback performance, it seems he’s worked out his deep pass accuracy issues and I’m sure part of that has been the acquisition of the aforementioned Stefon Diggs who’s week 2 stat line was almost as impressive as Allen’s, Diggs caught 8 of 13 targets for over 150 yards and a score. The Bills offense has been rolling through the first weeks but that’s been mostly through the air, they’ll need to get their run game going today and with rookie Zack Moss OUT for today’s game that’ll fall on Devin Singletary who’s still looking for a breakout performance this season and Josh Allen who is extremely dangerous with his legs. On defense the Bills really missed their Linebacker tandem of Milano and Edmunds last week and Miami’s Mike Gesicki was able to flourish over the middle of the field in their absence and if either or both are missing in this one expect Tyler Higbee to have himself a day after scoring a hattrick last week.
After what I saw from Josh Allen I’m not picking against my Bills in back to back weeks but I do expect this to be a close game between two good teams, the availability and fitness of Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano could be the deciding factor in this one. I do worry about the Rams inability to stop the run and with Zack Moss missing this one I expect Devin Singletary to perform here.
