The 2-1 Cardinals head to Charlotte to take on the McAffrey-less Panthers who picked up their first win of the season to head into week four at 1-2 on the year.
Arizona were upset at home by the previously winless Lions in week three in a game where Kyler Murray struggled throwing three interceptions in a close game. DeAndre Hopkins had himself another day hauling in 10 receptions for 137 yards and its clear that the Cardinals philosophy on offense is to get him the ball or allow Murray to run it himself which has proven hard to stop thus far.
The Panthers beat the Chargers in week three and without Christian McCaffrey they had to find another way and they did, utilising their pass catchers and ending the game with four players having at least 45 receiving yards but most importantly Teddy Bridgewater didn’t turn the ball over and when he can keep the ball away from the defense they will have a chance in games and this Cardinal D has yet to pick off an opposing QB through three weeks.
The Cardinals are favoured by 3.5 on the road and I think that’s fair value, If the Panthers don’t turn the ball over this should be a close game as a really underrated Panther secondary can make plays and with Hopkins listed as ‘QUESTIONABLE’ for this one it could force Murray to spread the ball out a little more but more than likely it’ll mean a heavier dose of the run game where Kenyan Drake has been good in rushing for at least 60 yards a game through three weeks. For the Panthers their standout player on offense this year has been WR Robby Anderson who has racked up over 270 receiving yards and a TD to start the year and has demanded at least 5 receptions in each game so far.
