HOUSTON TEXANS @ JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Battle of the AFC South 1-6’s as the Texans and Jags play their second matchup of the year.

With both sides coming off bye weeks it’s difficult to judge what we’re going to see here but the Texans have improved hugely since Bill O’Brien was fired and have already beaten the Jags once already this season. Deshaun Watson has been stellar recently throwing for at least 300 yards in each of his last 4 games including a season high 359 against the Jags in their first meeting and against a Jacksonville side which has struggled to stop the pass or pressure the passer the season I see no reason why his good form wont continue here.

I’m starting to question if the Jags want to win another game this season, since winning in week 1 they’ve declined hugely and for a side who’s biggest problems are on defense but the offense will be undermanned for this one with QB Gardner Minshew ruled out and no backup of any substance coming in, I expect to see a healthy dose of James Robinson who is coming off a career game last time out against the Chargers and can take advantage of one of the worst run defenses in football and will have something to prove after going scoreless and for under 50 yards on the ground in their first meeting.

I can’t see anything other than a Texans win here especially against a backup QB and I think it could turn into a bit of a blow out. the absence of Minshew gives me pause for a second on taking Watson to go over 283.5 passing yards as if the Jags cant score points the Texans could turn to the run game to keep things tight once establishing a lead but this is a Jags team who have allowed an average of 280 yards a game whilst Watson has been on fire recently.

PREDICTION: TEXANS 34 โ€“ 21 JAGUARS

BEST BET: Deshaun Watson over 283.5 passing yards โ€“ 5/6 with Betfair. 1 point bet.
