Cambridge Carry On Climbing

Cambridge United find themselves in within touching distance of the top of the league at this earlyish stage of the season. Barrow returned to the football league with a premature promotion last season when their season was curtailed from the pandemic.

Barrow must be fairly content with their start to the season, finding themselves 7 points clear of the drop zone. Their away form however has been poor with 1 win and 4 losses.

Mark Bonner’s Cambridge side are unbeaten at home in the league since February with 4 wins and 2 draws in that period. They have highly experienced Wes Hoolahan amongst their ranks having joined from Newcastle Jets. Paul Mullin finds himself top of the goal scoring charts with an incredible 1 in 1 ratio, with 11 goals in 11 games.

Barrow find themselves short of quality but Mark Bonner has been impressed with them this season and has said in the build up how impressed he’s been with David Dunn’s style of play, which he’s carried on following his promotion after Ian Evatt left for Bolton in the summer.

Cambridge are clear in being the leagues highest scorers so far with 24 goals and have conceded the 2nd least amount of goals so far.

I feel Bonners side will be too strong for this battling Barrow outfit tomorrow at the Abbey Stadium, and will pick up another 3 points in their quest for promotion.
