The 5-3 Browns come out of their bye and welcome a Texans side who improved to 2-6 with a win last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars who’re the only team they’ve managed to beat this season.
The Texans got their second win of the season and their second win over Jacksonville which all but guarantees the Texans 3rd place in the AFC South. Once again Deshaun Watson carried his side throwing for over 280 yards and 2 TD’s as well as being his sides leading rusher finishing with 50 yards on the ground and with David Johnson leaving the game with Jacksonville after suffering a concussion and expected to miss this game I’d expect to see Watson at his dual threat best again here although one hinderance could be the presence of Myles Garrett who is the current NFL Sack leader with 9 whilst Deshaun Watson has been sacked 24 times already this season and has taken at least 1 Sack in 17 straight games so I’d expect to see Watson taken down by Garrett at least once here but if the Texans can find someway of not allowing Garrett to ruin their game plan then its worth remembering that they have one of the hottest receivers in all of Football right now, Will Fuller who was close to being traded to the Green Bay Packers has a TD in each of his last 6 games and has implemented himself as the #1 in this side.
The Browns headed into their bye week coming off of a disappointing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in a game that conditions hindered. This was only Cleveland’s third loss of the season and in each of these losses they’ve scored 7 or less points which when put into perspective means that in over a third of their games this year they’ve been kept to a score or less, now this might happen once or possibly twice to good teams throughout a season but to have it happen three times in eight games should be a concern although not much of one here as they face one of the worst total defenses in the league and welcome back the returning star of their offense, Nick Chubb and I expect him to pick up where he left off and take advantage of a porous Texans run D.
I actually think this’ll be a close game and whilst the Texans have struggled this season I trust Deshaun Watson a million times more than I trust Baker Mayfield but with the return of Nick Chubb and the advantage of playing at home after a bye week I’m going to take the Browns to win by a FG. As for my best bet I’m going with the hot hand of Will Fuller to make it 7 games in a row with a TD, eventually that run will inevitably come to an end but with the price offered we’ll take a swing on him staying hot for at least 1 more week against an underwhelming Browns pass defense.
PREDICTION: BROWNS 20 – 17 TEXANS
