Game of the week Ladies and Gentleman as Air Allen brings his Buffalo Bills side to the desert to take on Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.
How about Josh Allen last week, huh?! As well as leading his side to a win over the Super Bowl hopeful Seattle Seahawks he also became the first QB in NFL history to throw for over 400+ passing yards, 3+ TD’s, 0 INT’s and a plus 130 QBR in multiple games in the same season and with that really thrusted himself into the MVP conversation once again. The Bills took the lead less than 90 seconds into the game last Sunday and never looked back posting 44 points and keeping Russell Wilson under control until the game was already won when the MVP favourite put up some garbage time yards and points for his side. Arguably (although probably not) more impressive than Allen’s performance was the Bills play on Defense, not only did they Sack Wilson 5 times they also hit him a huge 16 times as the Seattle pass protection failed their QB miserably, the constant scrambling and worrying about being hit helped the Bills force him into turning the ball over 4 times (2 interceptions and 2 lost fumbles) If the Bills can consistently make plays on Defense they’ll be a real force come playoff time.
The Cardinals lost a back and forth game against the Dolphins last week in a game Kyler Murray was forced to do almost everything for his team, the man who in my opinion is the best dual threat QB in the NFL ran for over 100 yards and a TD as well as completing 21/26 passes for over 280 yards and 3 TD’s, a hell of an effort in a losing cause but they’ll be looking for more of a contribution from their Defense in this one as the unit allowed rookie Tua Tagovailoa to throw for nearly 250 yards and 2 TD’s without picking him off and their inability to disguise coverage and allow Tua to target his pass catching playmakers in 1-on-1 matchups didn’t seem like the smartest of ideas and I’m sure they’ll have something a little more complicated for Josh Allen to decipher here. The Cardinals are able to get to the passer and with Allen taking 7 Sacks last week against Seattle behind a beat up O-Line I expect them to get after the big signal caller.
This is a fantastic matchup, two young QB’s who’re both coming off games where they completed over 80% of their passes, threw for 3 TD’s and rushed for another and I’m surprised to see the Cardinals favoured by 3 points as I expected this to be a 1 point spread with the Cardinals as slight favourites being at home so whilst I think the Bills are fantastic value at 5/4 in a game I really see as a coin flip I do think ultimately the Cardinals will find a way to get the win at home although I’ll be rooting hard for my Bills to move to 8-2.
My Best Bets revolve around both teams #1 Pass Catchers, both Stefon Diggs and DeAndre Hopkins are pivotal to both Offense’s and once again Diggs’ U/O Reception total is set at 5.5 and for a man who has only gone under 6 receptions just once this season and has 30+ more targets than any player on the Bills Offense I like the value here, I also like DeAndre Hopkins to get himself on the scoresheet in this one, he’s scored in all three career games against the Bills in his career and I think he’ll manage it again tonight.
*Just as I was about to post this the Stefon Diggs line moved from 5.5 to 6.5, If you can find him at 5.5 or under take it, I’m not so confident that the number isn’t 6 on the nose so the extra reception hurts here.*
PREDICTION: CARDINALS 31 – 30 BILLS
BEST BET: DeAndre Hopkins anytime TD – 11/10 with SkyBet. 1 point bet.
