The winless since opening day Jags travel to Minneapolis to take on the once 1-5 but now 5-6 Vikings who’re all of a sudden in the playoff hunt.
Minnesota showed they’re not just a one trick pony by beating the Panthers with their passing game. Carolina made a point of not letting Dalvin Cook beat them keeping the leading rushing TD scorer out of the end zone and to only 61 yards as well as forcing a fumble but Kirk Cousins wasn’t about to let his side down as he pulled out 3 TD passes and over 300 passing yards to win the game for his side and move them up to 2nd place in the NFC North and he did this without his number one receiver and Tight End as Adam Thielen and Irv Smith missed the Panthers game but Kirk and the Vikings will be thankful to have the former back for this game.
Jacksonville played the Browns close in a game I thought they’d be blown out in, James Robinson was once again impressive running the ball for just shy of 130 yards and backup QB Mike Glennon played well in throwing for 2 TD’s and 235 yards to make sure the Jags were never out of it but the once elite Jaguars pass defense is now one of the leagues worst and allowed Baker Mayfield who hadn’t thrown a TD pass in his previous three games to throw 2 of them and over 250 yards on them and the less said about how they handled Nick Chubb on the ground the better as the talented runner went for nearly 145 yards and a score on over 7.5 yards per carry (which is HUGE!)
The Jaguars made a change in the front office after the game, dismissing GM Dave Caldwell following their 10th straight loss of the season and whilst HC Doug Marrone is still there he’s the epitome of a dead man walking and will be shown the door upon seasons end if not before. The Jags currently hold the #2 overall pick in the 2021 Draft and at this stage I assume the front office and fans alike will be hoping to avoid a meaningless win or two which’ll move them down that pecking order.
The Vikings are the much better side and have a chance at a playoff berth so I’m going to take them to win here as heavy favourites.
As for my best bet I like the look of rookie Laviska Shenault Jr who’s been impressive this year and his U/O 2.5 Receptions total is an interesting market, Shenault has only had 1 game with under 3 receptions and that was due to only playing 14% of the teams offensive snaps because of an injury, he’s been on the field for over 50% of offensive snaps in every other game and is coming off of a game where he had a season high 91% offensive snap involvement. All of this points towards more not less targets for the rookie pass catcher so we’ll take the over here.
PREDICTION: VIKINGS 24 – 20 JAGUARS
BEST BET: Laviska Shenault OVER 2.5 Receptions – 4/6 with SkyBet. 1 point bet.
