The 13-1 Chiefs will be looking to clinch the #1 seed in the AFC and the solitary bye week meaning they’d effectively be able to give their starters a two week rest heading into the playoffs. They’re currently on a 9 game winning streak after beating the Saints last week in a game where the Saints had the right game plan on defense but were just unable to slow Mahomes and the Chiefs offense down enough. Kansas’ big advantage over every other team in the NFL is their passing attack and against this Falcons side who rank 31st in the NFL against the pass, I expect the Chiefs to throw the ball often and effectively.
The Falcons will again be without Julio Jones, the future HOF Wide Receiver has had an injury plagued season, and won’t play here, instead the pass catching burden will fall on Calvin Ridley, the Alabama product leads the team in receiving yards and receiving TD’s this year and has done his best to fill Julio’s boots when he’s been missing. The defense has struggled all year, and against a Chiefs side who lead the NFL in passing yards per game, it could be a long day for Atlanta’s secondary players.
I’m going to take the Chiefs to win this one at home and clinch the conference. As for my best bet I’m looking at Travis Kelce, the big Tight End is Patrick Mahomes favourite target and against a Falcons defense which ranks in the bottom ten in the league against opposition TE’s, I expect him to be the focal point of the offense today. Kelce has had at least 8 catches in seven straight games, so we’re definitely taking the over on his U/O 6.5 receptions line.
PREDICTION: CHIEFS 30 – 24 FALCONS
BEST BET: Travis Kelce OVER 6.5 Receptions – 8/11 with SkyBet. 1 point bet.
