INDIANAPOLIS COLTS @ PITTSBURGH STEELERS

The freefalling Steelers are at home and are looking to get back to wining ways against the AFC South hunting, Colts.

Pittsburgh have lost three on the spin and the latest loss, to a two win Bengal team is really a cause for concern as the Offense really struggled to move the ball against an unspectacular Bengals defense, and it’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back here against a Colts defense which has been one of the better units in the league all season. The issue with the offense appears to be with Big Ben and his inability to escape the pocket and deliver the ball down the field, if the pocket is kept clean and underneath routes open up he’s able to deliver accurate passes but if teams force him to have to move and/or throw down the field to beat them then we see him struggle. The defense is still easily an elite unit but they were got on the ground by the Bengals on MNF, and that appears to be where they can be targeted.

Whilst the Steelers are on a three game skid, it’s the opposite for the Colts who’re currently on a three game winning streak and looking good. Philip Rivers has played well in the last few weeks, in Indy’s last six games, they’ve won five of them with Rivers throwing twelve TD passes against only two interceptions. Part of the reason for the upturn in Rivers’ performances has been, especially in recent weeks, is the improvement of the run game, Jonathan Taylor has double figure carries in each of his last four games, and has gone over 4 yards per carry in each game, this improvement in run efficiency has benefited the whole offense, and I expect them to run the ball against the Steelers today.

I’m taking the underdog Colts, I think they’re in good form and can make life tough for Steelers offense whilst running the ball well enough to wear down the Steelers Defense. For my best bet we’re going with Colts rookie WR, Michael Pittman, who has had a quiet first year in the league, his U/O receptions number is set at 3.5, a number he’s gone under in four of his last five games.

PREDICTION: COLTS 21 โ€“ 20 STEELERS

BEST BET: Michael Pittman UNDER 3.5 Receptions โ€“ EVENS with SkyBet. 0.5 point bet.

NEXT BEST: COLTS to win outright โ€“ 11/10 with Betfair. 0.5 point bet.
