ATLANTA FALCONS @ NEW YORK GIANTS

Two 0-2 teams looking to get their season kickstarted in Week 3, will the G-Men get the win at home after a heartbreaking loss on the road on TNF in Week 2 or will the Falcons finally show they can play a little defense, at least enough to beat the Giants!

Daniel Jones impressed in the Primetime loss to Washington in Week 2, the oft-criticised passer threw for close to 250 yards and added 95 on the ground as he accounted for 2 total TD’s and importantly didn’t turn the ball over, if it wasn’t for Darius Slayton letting a pass fall through his fingers in the endzone then Jones’ stat line would’ve been closer to 300 yards and 3 total TDs and probably a ‘W’ as well. He seems to have embraced the dual-threat ability he clearly has and that should make passing the ball easier for him too, as does having Sterling Shepard healthy. The possession receiver has been his QB’s best friend through two weeks with back to back 7+ reception games, including 9 receptions on 10 targets in Week 2, making his U/O 5.5 reception total against a poor Falcons defense a very playable line.

The Falcons have struggled on both sides of the ball through two weeks, never really looking like they were in with a shot of winning either game. It’s hard to find an angle with the Falcons as they still seem to be finding a new identity under new HC Arthur Smith and adjusting to life without Julio Jones. The guy pegged by many to be Julio’s heir is rookie TE Kyle Pitts, the athletic pass-catcher is more of a big receiver than a traditional TE and he blends that great size with lightning-fast speed. He impressed last week with 73 yards on 5 receptions against the Bucs and will be looking to build on that and possibly open his NFL TD account against a Giants side who have given up TD’s to TE’s in both games so far in 2021. Interestingly though the Giants have given up the TE touchdowns to the backup in both games, which makes Hayden Hurst an option for an anytime TD in this matchup.
