CAROLINA PANTHERS @ DALLAS COWBOYS

Two impressive-looking NFC teams through three weeks meet in Dallas as the unbeaten Panthers coming off of a TNF win over the other team in Texas face-off with the Cowboys who are coming off a relatively short week as they beat the Eagles on MNF in Week 3.

Dallas were impressive as they moved to 2-1 on the season with a win against the Eagles, and can take a lot from the fact they’ve beaten a strong Chargers team and gave the Bucs all they could handle in their other two games. The offense is an elite unit, the O-Line is one of the leagues best and Dak’s weapons are the envy of many a QB. The defense is the weakness on this Cowboys team, they’ve allowed over 300 passing yards to all three QBs they’ve faced so far this season. The secondary has to improve across the board, except of course for Trevon Diggs, the sophomore has an interception in all three games this year including a Pick-6 against Philadelphia on MNF.

The Panthers moved to 3-0 with a TNF win in Week 3, but the loss of CMC who left the game with a hamstring injury is worrying and will leave a noticeable hole in the offensive game plan. Chuba Hubbard will likely be the primary deputy for McCaffrey but I’m going to need to see how he handles being the starter before I start putting my money on the Canadian. Instead, I like the overs on D.J. Moore’s U/O 5.5 receptions and Sam Darnold’s U/O 269.5 passing yards lines. As mentioned above, the Cowboys have given up over 300 passing yards to each QB they’ve faced so far this season, whilst Sam Darnold has been dealing dimes and is yet to throw for under 275 yards in a game. I just don’t understand the line, especially with his primary RB hurt. I also don’t understand D.J. Moore’s line, the talented WR has 6 or more catches in all three games so far this year and the Cowboys secondary is hardly fearsome. I guess you could make a case for the aforementioned Diggs to stick on Moore throughout the game and hope that dissuades Darnold from throwing the ball to his favourite pass-catcher, and whilst that’s certainly a possibility, I’m not sure I like Diggs’ chances if he’s left to guard Moore 1-on-1 all game long.

Spread: Cowboys -4.0

Total Match Points line: U/O 51.0

Game Prediction: Cowboys 30-24 Panthers
