NEW YORK JETS @ ATLANTA FALCONS

So after a year missed from the annual International Series games, we are finally back in London to see the Jets take on the Falcons. Both teams hold a 1-3 record, so this really is a must-win for both if they’re going to keep their already slim playoff hopes alive.

Atlanta will be the home side in this game, and with their disappointing loss to Washington last week, the Falcons are in danger of this season being over before it begins. Cordarelle Patterson is proving to be more than a one-game wonder for Atlanta, carrying the offense at times this season including a monster game last week where he gained 116 total yards on 11 touches with 3TDs. The fact that Calvin Ridley will be missing the game due to personal issues and fellow WR Russell Gage is unavailable too, means that we should see at least the same type of production in the receiving game from Patterson, which makes the over on his 4.5 reception & 41.5 receiving yard lines very playable.

The Jets finally got their first win of the Saleh / Wilson era on the board last week against a depleted Titans side and they’ll be wanting that old British saying about buses to be true of wins in London. Zach Wilson has got off to a mixed start as the Jets QB, sandwiching two poor performances in between solid opening day & Week 4 outings. Atlanta and their questionable secondary should offer Wilson the perfect opportunity to put together solid back to back games for the first time as the Falcons have allowed 250+ passing yards to every QB they’ve faced so far this year, that’s a number Wilson has passed in 50% of his games as a Jet and with his U/O passing yard line being set at 244.5 I like taking the over, especially with Jamison Crowder back in the line-up, his first appearance of the season came against the Titans and he was fantastic, hauling in 7 passes for over 60 yards and a TD, but more importantly, his presence meant that teams couldn’t game plan specifically for Corey Davis and it showed as he broke the 100 receiving yard total for the first time in his young Jets career going for 111 yards and a TD on only 4 receptions!

Ridley will prove a big miss for the Falcons this week and with the game being staged in London there won’t be any home advantage to be had, and with the Jets riding high off their first win of the season I like them to make it two in a row and get the W across the pond.
