Week 5 closes out in Baltimore as the 3-1 Ravens welcome the 1-3 Colts in an all AFC clash.
The Colts finally got their first win of the year last week as they beat a familiar face in Jacoby Brissett and the Dolphins. Jonathan Taylor was in fantastic form as he rushed for 103 yards on 16 attempts and a TD, the first time he’s surpassed 100 yards on the ground and found himself in the endzone this season. Mo Alie-Cox had himself a day last week as he snagged 2 TDs on three receptions, and he’ll be looking to be more involved in the passing game against a Ravens defense that has struggled to cover the TE position all season. The defense improved against Miami, but it’s still a unit that lacks playmakers, and their secondary play is awful, grading out 31st overall in defensive coverage against receivers according to PFF. That inability to cover should be music to the ears of Lamar Jackson and his pass-catchers.
Baltimore has reeled off three straight wins since their OT loss to the Raiders in Week 1, and Lamar Jackson has looked better and better every week. He’s had to throw the ball more often than in previous years and is proving up to the task so far with Hollywood Brown, Mark Andrews & Sammy Watkins proving to be solid receiving options. Sammy Watkins in particular has been super consistent with 4 catches in all 4 games this year, pair that with his 7 targets a game in the last three games and I think it’s easy to see the script the offense is using. Mark Andrews is Lamar Jackson’s safety blanket and the big TE has 3 games in a row with 5 receptions and I don’t see why the Ravens would need to come off-script against a poor Colts pass defense.
